✂️ Materials

  • Fabric marker or pencil

  • Optional: small safety eyes or embroidery thread

🧸 Pattern Pieces

  • Bird body — 2 pieces (mirror)

  • Wing — 2 pieces

  • Beak — 2 pieces

(All pieces fit on one A4 page at 100% scale.)

🪡 Sewing Instructions

1. Prepare the Pieces

Cut all pattern pieces from fabric.
Transfer any markings to the wrong side of the fabric.

2. Make the Wing

Place the two wing pieces right sides together.
Sew around the edge, leaving a small opening.
Turn right side out and press lightly.
Close the opening with hand stitching.

Set aside.

3. Make the Beak

Place the beak pieces right sides together.
Sew along the curved edge.
Turn right side out and press.

4. Embroidery (Optional but Recommended)

Before assembling the body, add facial details to one body piece:

  • eye (embroidery or safety eye)

  • simple decorative stitching if desired

This step is easiest while the fabric is flat.

5. Assemble the Body

Place the bird body pieces right sides together.
Insert the beak between the layers at the front.
Pin securely.

Sew around the body, leaving a small opening at the bottom for turning.

6. Turning and Stuffing

Turn the bird right side out through the opening.
Gently shape the head and tail.

Stuff evenly with polyester fibre filling.
The bird should feel soft but stable.

7. Attach the Wing

Position the wing on the side of the bird.
Sew in place by hand using small, neat stitches.

8. Closing the Opening

Close the opening at the bottom using a ladder stitch.

Your Simple Fabric Bird is finished!
